Equippe LWB 3.2DID
| | Model of the car: | Equippe LWB 3.2DID | | | General comments: | Montero is called Shogun in UK. It also has a diesel model which I bought. The diesel is very torquey and about 150lb heavier than the 3.5 litres petrol equivalent. It is great to drive because I can use 5th for above 40mph and 4th above 30mph. Very good fuel consumption of over 29mpg (diesel!). The vehicle does pitch and roll as one can expect from a SUV over 2100kg (or 4650lb). I believe the American Consumer report has been over the top to put this vehicle in an "unacceptable" category because every vehicle can be rolled over by abrupt steerings. I took the vehicle to a 1 in 3 mountain pass and then rode it over a sandy beach and conclude that the Shogun | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | Suspension could be improved for on road driving (New RAV4 also pitches and rolls but damps out quicker). Diesel engine noisier than European competitors and can do with a higher top speed. | | | Previous car: | RAV4 (2001 model) |
