| | Model of the car: | Montero | | | General comments: | I've got a 1990 Montero 4-dr, with a 3.0 V-6 and 175,000 miles. We use the Montero every day on the farm and for short trips. The suspension is very solid and has held up well. It still has the original U-joints and CV joints, which is amazing for the abuse I put it through. I rarely have to put it in 4WD. It goes anywhere - never been stuck. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | It started smoking profusely about 5000 miles ago. I pulled the heads to inspect the valve guides. They were fine, just needed new valve seals. The Montero is a pleasure to work on. Every bolt is easily accessible. |
